DE PERE—The West De Pere Phantom’s girls basketball team built a 20-point second half late and hung on to defeat the Shawano Hawks, Jan. 4, by a final of 53-44.

Good teams find ways to win despite not playing their best. Such was the case for the Bay Port girls’ basketball team against Pulaski Jan. 4.

Murphy Eggers (EGG-ERS) is a senior at De Pere High School and a captain on the hockey team who has nine goals and eight assists so far.

Trailing by one point with six seconds remaining, the Bay Port boys’ basketball team had a chance to win its game against Pulaski Jan. 3, but Logan Geissler’s final shot in the lane caromed off the rim in a 66-65 Fox River Classic Conference loss at Bay Port High School.

ASHWAUBENON—Despite falling behind 24-0, the Ashwaubenon Jaguars wrestling team battled all the way back and defeated the West De Pere Phantoms by a final of 39-36, Jan. 3, in a non-conference match held at Ashwaubenon High School.

Tai Crowell is a senior on the Jaguars’ wrestling team who has a passion/obsession for movies.

A trio of freshmen girls’ basketball players in the Fox River Classic Conference are already making a big impact this season.

With the Press Times moving into De Pere starting with the 2018 fall sport’s season, it was a memorable few months.

From undefeated seasons, to head coaches resigning, it was an interesting 2018 year for Ashwaubenon High School athletics.

It certainly was an exciting calendar year for Bay Port athletics. The school added a state championship banner, won numerous Fox River Classic Conference titles and continues to be at or near the top in every sport.
