Close to 30 parents from the Ashwaubenon Nordic and Bay Nordic ski teams worked the Central Conference meet on the Lakewood Ski Trails Jan. 27.

For the second week in a row, Bay Port’s Fox River Classic Conference wrestling dual came down to the final match. And for the second straight week, the Pirates came out on the short end.

ASHWAUBENON—The Pulaski Red Raiders boys’ basketball team built a 21-point lead and hung on in the second half to defeat the Ashwaubenon Jaguars by a final of 63-52.

With the cancellation of two area Nordic races midweek due to low snow, Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team (ANST) coach, Scott Putman, devised a junior race for high school and middle school athletes on the ski trails in Lakewood, Wisconsin, January 12. 

Rhinelander hosted a two-day, pursuit-style Nordic competition in warm conditions Jan. 5-6, attracting 360 junior skiers from Wisconsin and Michigan.

Good teams find ways to win despite not playing their best. Such was the case for the Bay Port girls’ basketball team against Pulaski Jan. 4.

Trailing by one point with six seconds remaining, the Bay Port boys’ basketball team had a chance to win its game against Pulaski Jan. 3, but Logan Geissler’s final shot in the lane caromed off the rim in a 66-65 Fox River Classic Conference loss at Bay Port High School.

Deedra Irwin, 2010 Pulaski High School alumna, made her IBU World Cup debut anchoring the U.S. women’s relay team at the competition in Hochfilzen, Austria, Dec. 16.
