How did you get started playing your sport?
At a very young age my dad and older brother always put a basketball in my hands. From there I began to love the game more and more, which made me want to play more competitively in grade school with my friends.
How has the balance between academics and athletics changed for you from freshman to senior year?
Academics has always been a priority of mine before I can go out and play the sport I love. The balance of playing a sport and keeping up with school has definitely gotten harder over my high school years, so making sure I am focused on and off the court all the time is key for me.
What is your favorite part of this sport? What is the most challenging part of this sport?
My favorite part is definitely being able to play and practice with my teammates. It’s also a lot of fun being able to play in a packed gym almost every game. The most challenging part is making sure that you’re on top of yourself physically and mentally.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
The most memorable experience in high school sports so far for me was fracturing my pelvis in multiple areas during the summer of my senior season. It was truly a big test for me as I had to fight through adversity and had to work extremely hard in order to be ready by the start of the season.
Do you have a bucket list goal that pertains to your sport?
Winning the conference and making it to the Kohl Center to compete for a State Championship.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
Looking back at my high school experience, I am happy that I never gave up on myself when things got hard, whether that was in life, sports or school. I am glad to see that I grew into becoming more of a leader to my teammates and my peers.
Do you have any pre-game rituals/routines/superstitions?
I read the Bible and pray before every game so I remember who I am playing for.
Dream vacation destination?
Costa Rica.
Any quotes that help you in your sport or life in general?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13.
Favorite food?
Chicken quesadilla.
Random fun fact about you?
My dream job when I was kid was to be a veterinarian.
Any hobbies outside of your sport?
Bowling, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Favorite movie/TV show?
Oceans 11.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to shout out?
Memorable coaches that I would like to shout out would be my dad as he really pushed me to be the best person and athlete I could be throughout my youth. He was always a positive influence on me and taught me a lot of life lessons.
Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)
I am undecided as of right now but I plan on majoring in business finance with an emphasis in financial planning.
