GREEN BAY – The annual Bellin women’s run is quickly approaching.
It features options for runners of all experience levels and capabilities including a 5k, two-person relay and a half marathon.
Approximately 1,500 runners are anticipated to be participating in the women’s run.
Bellin Health seeks to advocate for a healthy lifestyle by implementing, allowing and encouraging people to participate in the runs or cheer on the runners from the sidelines of the ‘spectator-friendly’ course.
“For the last decade, the Bellin Women’s Half Marathon has given women in our area the opportunity to get active, set and achieve goals and experience the second-to-none camaraderie of an incredibly supportive and inspiring community of female runners,” said Race Director Linda Maxwell. “Whether running or walking our 5K event, teaming up with a buddy and tackling our half marathon relay, or going the full half marathon distance solo, our participants are doing something great for their health in a female-focused environment designed just for them.”
On-site registration for the run is available on Friday, Oct. 4, from 2-6 p.m. at the KI-Convention Center.
Prior to the run, there will also be an Inspiration Dinner for all participants, as well as a speech by keynote speaker Olympic bronze medalist Deena Kastor at 6 p.m.
Race day is Saturday, Oct. 5, at the KI Convention Center.
Runners are expected to arrive around 6:30 a.m. for a start time of 8 a.m.
The finish line for the event is downtown by Green Bay’s CityDeck where all finishers will receive a medallion and a post-race meal.
In addition to the benefits each individual runner gains in regards to their own health, the Bellin women’s run also allocates proceeds from the runs to local female-centered foundations through the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay.
Participants are encouraged to register for the races prior to Oct. 4 to avoid registration fee price increases.
“The Bellin Women’s Half Marathon & 5K is proud to foster a sense of community and belonging that starts well before race day,” said Maxwell.
“From free training sessions and participant events to the support of Bellin’s top-tier sports medicine team, our runners are well-supported in body and mind as they prepare to go the distance.”
