EDITORIAL: Press Times partners with Green Bay Booyah

As the roads are coated in ice and the windchill can be felt in your bones, there is nothing I want more right now than baseball in summertime, and we are going to bring it to you this year.

The Press Times and Green Bay Booyah have agreed to a partnership where The Press Times is the official newspaper for the team.

This will allow us to keep baseball fans in the loop with what will be one of the area’s hottest draws once the temperature starts to climb.

This is almost as exciting for us as an unassisted triple play.

The Green Bay Booyah, formerly the Bullfrogs, will move into the brand-new Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon with the first home game set for June 1.

Green Bay Booyah

With one of the premier parks in the Northwoods League, the Booyah are reinventing themselves into a new brand based on the same baseball that has called Green Bay home since 2007.

Keep an eye out for more left-handed hitters to take advantage of a short porch in right field.

The Press Times is also reinventing what a community paper can be, by working to provide local news to the Green Bay area, not just surrounding villages.

Keep reading this paper to find out more about what’s happening in Green Bay and read stories about those who make this a great place to live.

Booyah game-goers will see The Press Times name more at Capital Credit Union Park this season and we will provide game coverage, complete with features on players and upcoming events.

If you haven’t taken in a Northwoods League game, you should make it a point this summer.

Top-level college players call Green Bay home for the summer and stay with local families.

They get a chance to continue to hone their craft in hopes of getting drafted and called up to The Show one day.

It may seem like a pipe dream, but legitimate talent has played in the Northwoods League.

Nine big leaguers have donned a Green Bay uniform at some point, and hall-of-fame talent has played in the league as well.

Max Scherzer, Ben Zobrist, Chris Sale, Andre Ethier and Eric Thames are just some of the names to have found MLB success after going through the Northwoods League.

But what really excites me about this partnership is the ability to bring more of this baseball to you, our readers.
Prices are affordable, promotions are fun and the talent is skilled.

At a game not that long ago, Jerry “The King” Lawler put me in a headlock. Then I enjoyed a brat, cheese curds and beverage and caught some entertaining baseball, and it didn’t break the bank.

Most importantly, I didn’t have to travel far to experience this unique brand of fun.

With some of the promotions on tap this season for the Booyah, everyone will have an opportunity to make his or her own memories at the ball yard.

We encourage you to visit northwoodsleague.com/green-bay-booyah/ for the schedule and keep an eye on The Press Times to learn more about exciting promotions as they are announced.

We can’t wait for summer and the Green Bay Booyah baseball that goes along with it.
