FROM THE PUBLISHER: ‘Tis the season

By Patrick Wood

Dear Reader,

‘Tis the season to be thankful. If you are reading this and are warm and have a cup of coffee, perhaps even a bagel in front of you to sip and munch on, you’re probably doing better than about half of the 7.5 billion people on the planet
that are at or near the poverty level.

Even in Wisconsin, one of the wealthiest and best managed states in our country, there are over 20,000 homeless people.

First, we can be thankful for all of our blessings on this week of Thanksgiving and spread cheer to all those who touch our lives.

Second, we can give whatever we can spare in terms of time and resources to those less fortunate whether it be serving food at a shelter or passing a few bucks on to charity.

You can also call your State Senators and ask them to free up the $7 million allocated for the caregivers of the homeless in Wisconsin since winter is almost upon us.

Finally, we can reflect on all the goodness out there and in our own lives. While not one of us can save the world from its strife, together we can make a difference even if we think it a small one.

Give that brother or sister a hug. Smile pleasantly and make someone’s day.

It all adds up and it’s contagious. Be good and goodness will come back to you in unexpected ways.
Happy Thanksgiving.
