EDITORIAL: The Home Expo is a must attend

This week you probably noticed a special insert in The Press Times about the upcoming Home Expo.

This is the first of three special sections for 2019 in our partnership with the Brown County Home Builders Association.

We entered the partnership because it was a natural fit.

As readers of The Press Times, you are more apt to care about local events, and this upcoming Home Expo is certainly an event you don’t want to miss.

If you are thinking about buying a new home or remodeling your current home, this event is the place to be.

The BCHBA is the go-to source for everything home-related, from moving earth for the basement foundation to finishing work and painting the walls once they are up.

So how does home construction and a newspaper go together?

Simple, you are invested in your community.

You care about where you live and you want to understand what’s happening.

Like us, you take pride when your neighbors do well, and you are concerned about where your tax dollars are going.

As an invested citizen, you are either proud to call this area home, or are interested in relocating in the area, whether that be building new or remodeling a home here.

But with so many choices and trends, home decisions can be daunting.

I spent a summer in high school as a residential carpenter, so I understand firsthand everything that goes into building a home from the ground up.

I still don’t care what anyone says, I am the best putty man around, but when it comes to putting up a wall, call someone else.

If my summer wielding a hammer has taught me one thing, it’s that it’s best to leave this type of work to the professionals.

At the Brown County Home Builders Home Expo, Jan. 24-27 at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay, you have the opportunity to chat with those very professionals.

Home should be where we spend most of our time, and there is nothing wrong with taking pride in yours.

I encourage anyone thinking about building or remodeling to check it out.
