DE PERE – West De Pere High School student David Whipp, son of Lee and Angela Whipp, has earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.
According to the most recently-released data on ACT testing (2022) in U.S. high schools reports, only 3,376 out of more than 1.34 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36, which is only .002% of all test takers.
The ACT assessment is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school and measures college academic preparedness.
The ACT consists of testing in mathematics, science, reading and writing, each scored on a scale of 1-36, while a student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores.
Students who earn a 36 composite score have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in the core subject areas.
ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the United States.
“Whipp will have earned 47 credits for college through College Credit Courses and/or Advanced Placement testing during his West De Pere High School career,” a school district release stated.
“Along with his academic achievements, David is an AP Scholar of Distinction, Badger Boys State Leadership Program, and all conference Math team. He is also a nationally ranked chess player. David participates in Cross Country as a Boys Team Captain, National Honor Society Secretary, Student Council, Founder and President of the high school Computer Science Club and recently was a DECA 2024 International Silver Medallion recipient in Financial Services Team Decision Making.
“In the community, Whipp is a Brown County Library Summer Reading Program Volunteer and volunteers as a Chess tournament director at local schools. He also enjoys traveling to national parks and plays the harp for local music performances.”
David plans on attending college and studying computer science after high school.
