The Ultimate Tribute

The Fab Four returns to the Meyer with new show

Posted

Widely regarded as one of the best Beatles tribute bands out there, fans of the Beatles won’t want to miss The Fab Four - The Ultimate Tribute at the Meyer Theater next Saturday, Nov. 8, as the group brings their all-new show, celebrating The Beatles’ second film Help!, to Green Bay.

Along with performances from the movie soundtrack, audiences will also be sure to hear many of the Beatles’ greatest hits of every era.

“The problem with a completely new show is that people go, ‘Where are the hit songs?’” said Gavin Pring, who portrays George Harrison in the show. “So what we’ve done is we’re doing the soundtrack hits from the Help! movie… But there’s still going to be the Sergeant Pepper set and also the later breakup years and songs from those eras, too.”

With uncanny, note-for-note live renditions of Beatles’ classics such as “Help!,” “Yesterday,” “A Day In The Life,” “Twist And Shout,” “Here Comes The Sun” and “Hey Jude”, the Fab Four will make you think you are watching the real thing — which is what originally drew Pring, from Liverpool himself, to the group.

“I grew up in Liverpool, England… And when I was in England, I thought that every city in the world had a Beatles band,” Pring said. “Like in Seattle they have Nirvana or Jimi Hendrix and in London they have the Rolling Stones and every city must have a band like the Beatles. But now, I’ve traveled all over the world, and there’s no band like the Beatles… When I came over [to the USA] and saw [The Fab Four] was playing in Las Vegas… I was kind of like Ray Kroc, the guy that, when he saw McDonald’s, he was like, ‘I’ve got to get involved in that.’ That was kind of what happened. I was looking at The Fab Four and I was like, ‘These guys are great.’ I watched the show for months when I was learning to be a part of it and every single night I watched the same show and I was still amazed — every single night for nine months… I can tell you that The Fab Four are the best in the world and that’s why I’m involved in them. I wouldn’t be in any other company, really.”

The Fab Four’s stage performances include three costume changes representing every era of the Beatles ever-changing career, with their loving tribute to the Beatles entertaining audiences in countries around the world including Japan, Australia, France, Hong Kong, The United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico and Brazil.

But Pring’s favorite performance has been the one that brought him back to his, and the Beatles’, hometown.

“My favorite gig ever was going home for the first time in 2008 after being here for four years and playing in front of my mum,” he said. “My mum was in the audience and I was nervous for the first time in years… It was cool to play to my home audience — the same audience that are related to the Beatles.

After all that time, there’s been other great gigs — we’ve played in front of thousands of people in the Pacific Amphitheater for the Orange County Fair and I’ve performed on the same stages as the Beatles and they’re all great… but the one that I played in front of my mum, I was the most proud.”
