GREEN BAY - On Broadway launched its second annual Mini Boss vendorship program for kids ages 15 and under.

The program seeks to help young entrepreneurs learn essential business skills, such as financial literacy and responsibility.

“It was such an overwhelming success last year with it being the first time doing it,” said On Broadway Marketing and Communication Vice President Mary Rhode. “To see these kids doing what they love and helping them start their business, it’s really what On Broadway is truly about – helping entrepreneurs. With the Mini Boss program, there’s no limit to the age that you can do that.”

“If you think about yourself at that point in your life, you’re trying to find your way and figure out what you want to do,” added Rhode. “To see kids who have a true passion for creating whether it’s baked goods or bracelets and jewelry, any other handmade item, it’s great to be able to foster that passion and give them a stage to promote their products and their business. Who knows? Maybe they’ll end up in a brick and mortar location right here on Broadway.”

For many of the young vendors, their eagerness to try their hand at entrepreneurship is the primary reason for their involvement in the farmers market.

Many of them were inspired by pushes from their friends to start selling and decided to share their talents with the local community.

The possibility to have a stand at the farmers market has also offered a lot of learning opportunities.

“I’ve learned not to give up,” said Kaley Bishop. “I’ve dropped so many bracelets, but it’s worth it for me to continue and I’m really excited about the farmers market.”

“There’s no such thing as overprepared,” said another vendor, Finn Hatch.

The Mini Boss market will continue to lend opportunities to young entrepreneurs every Wednesday through Aug. 7, located in Red Sculpture Park during the On Broadway Farmers Market.
