Christkindlmarket on Broadway expands in fourth year

Posted

The Christkindlmarket on Broadway is returning for year four, now offering more opportunities to find those unique gifts and support local businesses.
This much-anticipated traditional German-style holiday street market features unique gifts, festive food, beverages and programming.

This year’s market has added Thursdays to its schedule and is also offering extended hours on Saturday.

Starting Nov. 20, markets will take place each week on Thursdays from 4 p.m.-9 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. through Dec. 20, excluding Thanksgiving Day.

“This market has become a seasonal destination for many, and we’re excited to offer locals and visitors more opportunities to shop,” said Brian Johnson, president and CEO for On Broadway, Inc. “Our team is focused on providing a memorable holiday experience through event decor, themed programming and festive food and drink, all with the premise of supporting local. It is always a magical experience that brings thousands of people to the Broadway District each holiday season.”

The Christkindlmarket on Broadway will consist of more than 20 holiday and unique gift vendors, running collaboratively with other On Broadway events such as the Winter Wine and Beer Walks and Small Business Saturday in addition to other Christkindlmarket programming.

The market will kick off on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. with a special lighting ceremony to welcome the holiday season to the Broadway District.

Santa and his reindeer will appear at the market on Nov. 20 and Dec. 13, providing two opportunities for local kids to get their gift requests in.

DIY workshops at the Christkindlmarket on Broadway are the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the holiday season with numerous offerings scheduled over the five-week season including charcuterie board woodburning, cake pop making, gingerbread house making and more.

Visitors to the event are used to seeing Minzo’s and its owner Bob Stahl, who have been an event mainstay since the beginning, providing delicious German-inspired fare.

Stahl, who is also related to the owners of Green Bay’s oldest German restaurant, The Lorelei Inn, is completing the previous Lorelie-influenced menu and going all-in with many other Lorelei offerings at this year’s Christkindlmarket.

“I love getting out on the street, literally, and showing new faces what the Lorelei has to offer,” said Stahl. “It’s been a great 73-year run for the restaurant and it’s likewise great exposure to those who may not know us.”
