MILWAUKEE-Rylie Severson scored her first hole-in-one of her career at Brown Deer Park Golf Course (June 19).
She used a 6 iron on the par 3 third hole from 145 yards out.
She went onto shoot 92, 90 in the WPGA Junior Championships 13-18.
EAU CLAIRE-Morgan Zirbel (Ashwaubenon) is one year removed from the combined Bay Area Ice Bears high school hockey team.
Fast forward to her freshman year in college at Wisconsin Eau-Claire where she not only made the roster, but she played on one of the top lines.
A culmination of hard work resulted in the team finishing 19-7-4 on the season and Zirbel was a big factor.
She appeared in 27 games in 2017-18.
Zirbel scored five goals, added six assists, and attempted 53 shots.
Her second career goal came back home against St. Norbert College.
The team finished the regular season on a high note with a 7-0-2 mark winning the WIAC championship over River Falls before heading to the NCAA Tournament.
In the first round, the Blugolds knocked off Gustavus Adolphus in a thrilling 3-2 triple overtime victory in which Zirbel scored the second goal.
The Blugolds went onto fall to Hamline University in the quarterfinals.
It was an impressive start for Zirbel in her hockey journey as a Blugold.
DENMARK-The Ashwaubenon A’s split their legion baseball doubleheader at Denmark High School (June 27).
The A’s captured game one by a final of 15-5 in five innings, and the Vikings won game two by a score of 3-1.
(Game 1) The Vikings scored four runs to start the game.
The A’s, however, battled back in the second and third innings behind the bats of Ian MacLean and Logan Blazek.
Each went 4-4 on the day with three runs scored.
Drake Doxtator had three RBI’s during the two innings and the A’s took a 4-3 lead into the top of the fifth.
After the Vikings added a run to even the score at four apiece, the A’s exploded for an unprecedented 11 runs in the fifth inning.
Mike Rottier, Karch Van Dalen, Jeremy Cox, Will Adair, and Riley Siudzinski all scored during the onslaught.
After the Vikings came up empty in the bottom of the inning, the game ended with the 10-run rule.
Michael Rottier struck out nine over five innings as the winning pitcher.
(Game 2) The A’s took an early 1-0 lead after Adair crossed the plate in the bottom of the first.
However, the Vikings struck for two runs in the third and then another one in the fifth to capture the game.
Siudzinski took the loss going 4 2/3 innings.
He struck out three and gave up only one earned run.
The A’s will take their 9-6 mark into Oconto Falls where they will take on the Panthers (July 2).
