Astronaut visits McAuliffe Elementary school

The last time McAuliffe Elementary School students spoke with Mark Vande Hei in early February of this year, he was hurtling through space at five miles per second in the International Space Station (ISS).

Vande Hei, a NASA astronaut who holds the record for longest spaceflight by an American after spending 355 days on the ISS, met with the Students at McAuliffe Elementary again – this time in the flesh – as he visited the school on Monday, Oct. 3 to talk with the students and answer questions about his experience in space.

Vande Hei’s cousin, Michelle McVane, is a speech and language pathologist at McAuliffe.
