Rockers drop Fourth of July game at home

ASHWAUBENON – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters beat the Green Bay Rockers on the Fourth of July at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon, 10-2.

The Northwoods League (NWL) game was called in the seventh inning when storms rolled through.

The Rafters scored three times in the first inning and added a single tally in the second.

Wisconsin Rapids added two more in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to surge ahead 9-0.

The Rockers got on the board in the sixth inning when Griffin Stevens hit a solo home run, and Brendan Ryan singled home Collier Cranford.

The Rafters got another in the seventh inning on a Ben Ross RBI single.

With one out and Chase Hudson at third in the bottom of the seventh, the game was called due to inclement weather.

The Rockers are off Tuesday, July 5, but play Wednesday, July 6, in Madison to begin the second half of the season.
