Howard Plan Commission approves BCS Supply addition

By Press Times Staff

HOWARD – A site plan to expand the BCS Supply building at 1510 Brookfield Ave. was approved Aug. 17 by the village’s Plan Commission.

Community Development Director Dave Wiese said BCS Supply plans to expand the building with several options to add more than 50,000 square feet and a new product line.

Wiese said the site plan’s conditions of approval include paving all parking lots and storage areas, along with having a stormwater management plan approved by the village’s engineering department.

New building tabled

In other action, Wiese said the commission tabled a site plan from Allen Lee Investments for a new 8,640-square-foot commercial building in the 1600 block of Brookfield Avenue.

He said the commission requested dressing up the appearance of the building, which would be used as a soccer training facility, with the front elevation facing Brookfield Avenue having an asphalt parking lot with 20 stalls.

Though the new project wouldn’t disturb more than an acre of land or add more than 20,000 square feet of impervious service, Wiese said the proposed development will require a stormwater management plan in conjunction with the previous development of the Pirate FastPitch complex in that area.

He said the site plan for the new building could be back before the commission for approval at its meeting in September.
