Chandik Kundinger, Nelson come out tops in De Pere

By Press Times Staff

DE PERE – Amy Chandik Kundinger will represent District 1 on the De Pere Common Council.

She beat Randy Soquet, 887 to 585, in the Tuesday, April 2, contest for the seat held for eight years by local attorney Larry Lueck.

Lueck did not seek another term.

Chandik Kundinger serves as director of business engagement for St. Norbert College and is in her third year on the De Pere plan commission.

She serves on the board of directors for the De Pere Chamber of Commerce, where she’s a member of its economic development committee, and she’s been active in downtown programs and activities.

She said she plans on devoting a portion of her website to summarizing Common Council meetings.

She also said a replacement for De Pere’s closing downtown Shopko store should be a retail option that’s appropriate in size for the city’s downtown.

District 4

In the race to serve District 4 on the De Pere Common Council, incumbent Casey Nelson beat Brandi Kiskis by 61 votes, 458 to 397.

Nelson is a pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic in Green Bay.

Last fall, Nelson launched the Mental Health Outreach program, which hosts topical monthly speakers and discussions on forms and aspects of mental health.

He is also behind efforts to start a beer garden at Voyageur Park. This summer’s season will serve as a pilot and will feature three family-friendly music nights.
