BROWN COUNTY – In March 2008, eight passionate women realized their dream of starting a women’s service club, signaling 10 years on the front lines of education, culture and charity as the Brown County Community Women’s Club.

The group now boasts a membership of 260-280 ladies every year.

Enhancing the lives of those who reside in Brown County is the unifying purpose that bonds this varied collection of people.

Since the club’s founding, its goal has been to support the local community’s needs for philanthropic, educational and cultural services while encouraging the development of its members on a social and personal level.

It is a non-political, non-sectarian organization that seeks to have a constructive influence.

Pam Girtz, the publicity coordinator for the club, said, “This is one of the best-organized groups in the area for helping non-profits is the Brown County Community Women’s Club, which was granted 501c3 non-profit status in 2015. The club runs more smoothly and cohesively when the board meets once a month and when members get together separately on the third Wednesday of the month.

“This women’s group is unique because of its extraordinary commitment to Brown County. Since its founding, over $500,000 in donations and finances have been generated, all of which have remained in the community. Its Facebook group, ‘Brown County Community Women’s Club,’ is a fitting representation of the club’s dedication to making a local difference, since members actively participate and work together there.”

The Brown County Community Women’s Club is a source of hope for the community since it promotes a giving and service-oriented attitude.

The non-profit organization engages in activities that go beyond simple charity, positively impacting the lives of the people of Brown County through projects such as the Smile Bouquet project, Halloween goodies for youth at HSHS St. Vincent Children’s hospital and defibrillator donations.
