GREEN BAY – Three candidates will vie for a seat on the Brown County Board of Supervisors in District 6.

Incumbent Kathy LeFebvre will face challengers Paul Boucher and Steven Campbell on the Feb. 20 primary ballot for two spots on the April 2 spring ballot.

One person will not advance.

Paul Boucher

Please provide your background, education and experiences that qualify you for the position?

I have lived in the Green Bay area for most of my life. I received my bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin in sociology. I have spent years researching the community and its needs.

What developments would you like to see the city make over the upcoming term?

We spend allot of money on flood cleanup and flood insurance. If we took that money and spent it on building a pipeline to drain the lower bay faster that would be money well spent.

We could use a bridge at Allouez Avenue. This would unite Allouez and Ashwaubenon. There’s currently no practical way for bicyclers and pedestrians to make that commute. It would also relieve traffic on 172 from having so much local traffic.

What means would you use to further involve your constituents in the decision-making process?

The best way to get constituents involved is to get people involved at a younger age. When constituents learn to care about elections, they stay involved. I will work to get the voting age lowered at the local level. Similar to what other communities have done. Some say young people don’t know anything about elections; well, I have talked to many adults who are perfectly willing to admit that they don’t know anything about elections. If we get people involved in democracy early, we all benefit.

Steven Campbell

Please provide your background, education and experiences that qualify you for the position?

Personal: Age 63; married 40 years with three adult children.

Education and experience: Preble High School graduate 1979, Machinist Degree NWTC, 33-year homeowner in District 6, Brown County Foster Care Provider Emergency Placement Home (1994-1997), successful business owner for the last 28 years, National Federation of Independent Business Member, Professional Archery Instruction in Schools and Community involvement in Hunter Education.

City experience: Green Bay City Deer Hunt Proficiency Administrator, current city council member/alderman, Current City Improvement and Services Committee Member, current City Parks Committee (vice chair).

What developments would you like to see the city make over the upcoming term?

Developments that I would like to see the county make are to keep doing what they are doing. I really think that our county board, for the most part, are doing a great job and that is why I would like to be part of that with all the resources that I have with my 28 years of business. If I had to pick something specific I would like to see the county drug task force and the Green Bay Police Department work more closely together to pool their resources better when it comes to drug rehab education and enforcement. Also advocate and ensure proper funding to support to hire quality district attorneys to fill the back log of cases that are causing our crowded jail. I would also like to see the continued investment into our park trail system and waterway boat launches.

What means would you use to further involve your constituents in the decision-making process?

The means I would use to further involve my constituents in my county district would be to continue to keep open communication through my Facebook page and YouTube channel by posting important issues that will be discussed at county board meetings. Advocate and encourage involvement to attend meetings to voice their concerns and opinions and promote advertising more local involvement in using our county parks trail system and local county parks and zoo. Maybe than they will have more interest and provide more input. You don’t always have to go “out of town” to have a have a good time and enjoy our waterway system and the outdoors that our parks provide. It’s right in our backyard.

What developments would you like to see the city make over the upcoming term?

1. Renard/Kidney Island. We need a proper closure plan. I will work on a plan that works for Bay Beach Park, the neighborhood, and the wildlife that use the Island.

2. The South bridge. This bridge is long overdue. I have supported moving this forward and will work to bring this to completion.

3. Any issues that come up involving District 6 with the county.

What means would you use to further involve your constituents in the decision-making process?

Deliver a newsletter with important information on county issues and talk to constituents on my walks.  My phone number and county email are available on all my campaign literature. I am always available.
