Domnick will be participating in the 2023 girls’ state tennis tournament as an individual for the second year in a row.

How did you get started playing tennis?

My dad played in high school, so that’s what got me into playing .

Have you ever played any other sports? Has tennis always been your favorite?

Yes, I played soccer and swam growing up, but tennis has always been my favorite.

How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?

I think Freshman year, it is a lot of just figuring out what works for you and how you get your work done, but by senior year you know your habits and what works best for you.

What is your favorite part about the sport? What about tennis has caused you to stick with it for this long?

I think my favorite part is the mental to physical dynamic, problem solving, and figuring out strategy. Tennis is a completely mental game which is why I have stuck with it for so long.

What would you say is your biggest tennis weapon?

My backhand.

What professional tennis player do you admire most?

Coco Gauff.

What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?

Making it to Team State my sophomore year.

What are your feelings about playing in the State Tournament? Are you less nervous since this is your second time there?

I’m excited! I’m not nervous, and I’m not usually nervous before matches.

Do you have any pre-match rituals or superstitions?

Nope!

Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big match? Anything outside of regular practices?

Just working on technique more in practice.

Any hobbies outside of sports?

Working, and I just started playing pickleball.

Favorite song?

“New Romantics” by Taylor Swift.

Sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade, or just water?

Just water, I’m not a huge Gatorade fan.

What are your plans for the future (college/major/career)?

As of right now, I’m not sure where I want to go; however, I do want to major in business.
