Chris Mitchell is a senior guard on the Notre Dame Academy boys’ basketball team.

He said he loves the competition of a game.

Mitchell grew up in Charlottesville, Va., for eight years and said he’d love to get behind the wheel of a Tesla.

What’s it like to be a senior leader at Notre Dame?

“This is the most cohesive team I’ve been a part of. It’s extremely enjoyable to play and lead these teammates.”

Talk about a big victory last year and the state tournament you want to make as a senior.

“A big win for us last year was at Lourdes Academy in Oshkosh. We beat them handily, and it showed how much we had improved. They had beaten us the previous year by 14. Getting to state is a goal for us this year, and I believe we can make it. Anything less will be disappointing.”

A recliner or a couch?

“A recliner.”

What’s your most embarrassing basketball moment?

“Last year we played our worst game of the year at De Pere. They beat us by 30, and it stemmed from a lack of effort and toughness. It was embarrassing for all of us.”

Talk about what you’ve learned from your dad coaching basketball at NEWCHAA (Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Athletic Association).

“I played for my dad lots of seasons. He’s an incredible coach, and I would be nowhere near where I am today without the basketball and life guidance I’ve received from him.”

What’s something you learned in the past week?

“How to play racquetball. I was surprised at how much I liked it.”

What’s your favorite thing about playing for new Head Coach Brian Bobinski?

“I’m excited to finish my high school career with him. I know how much he cares about our team and our success. I love the competitiveness he instills in our practices and culture.”

Talk about a volunteer experience.

“A few years ago, I went on a mission trip to Haiti building houses and meeting the kids at an orphanage.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“(Green Bay East boys’ basketball player) Ryan Sweeney. I want to know what it’s like to have his bounce.”

What’s one thing other teammates or coaches don’t know about you?

“I can’t say – then my secrets will be revealed.”

“Shark Tank” or “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

“’Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ I could do well with the random trivia they dish out.”

What’s the coolest trend you see today?

“A big trend around Notre Dame is #lukewarden. He’s a local celebrity.”

Which do you dislike more – a bad thunderstorm or a wicked blizzard?

“A wicked blizzard. I hate driving in the snow.”

How does the game come so easy for you?

“I’ve been playing since I was around four years old. Watching and playing has always been a part of my life.”

What are your hobbies?

“I like to play golf and be outside in nature.”

Favorite thing to do in Green Bay in the summer?

“Spend afternoons at Team 1848-The Workshop soaking in the wisdom of founder Harry Boyce.”

What’s your favorite type of music?

“Rap is my favorite genre, but I like lots of other stuff, too. I listen to lots of classical music, Pink Floyd and some old-school tunes.”

McDonald’s or Kwik Trip for breakfast?

“Kwik Trip is underrated for all meals.”

What four words describe you?

“Determined, competitive, cerebral, meta.”
