Booyah come from behind against Chinooks

MEQUON – The Green Bay Booyah defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks in Mequon Wednesday night, 4-3.

With the win, Green Bay extended its season-high winning streak to five games.

They are now 2-0 in the second half of the season.

A pair of runs by Lakeshore in the third and fourth inning put the Booyah behind 2-0.

Entering the seventh inning, the Booyah had left six men on base.

But the momentum swung to Green Bay in the seventh.

With one away, Brendan Ryan (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) singled to center.

That was followed by Jake Berg (Jacksonville) getting hit by a pitch and Max Wagner (Clemson) working a walk.

With the bases loaded, Kaden Hollow (Dixie State) worked a walk that forced in Ryan.

Afterward, Tristin Garcia (Western Kentucky) hit a grounder to second.

The Chinooks’ second baseman flipped to second to force Hollow out, but the return from the shortstop was errant and got past the first
baseman.

Berg and Wagner scored to give Green Bay a 3-2 lead.

In the ninth, the Booyah added another.

Berg, a Bay Port graduate, picked up his third single of the night to begin the inning and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.

He then advanced to third when Wagner grounded out to second and scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2.

The Chinooks scored a run in the ninth, but De Pere graduate Will Semb (Iowa) recorded a strikeout with the tying run standing at third.

Green Bay returns to Capital Credit Union Park on Thursday to take on the Kenosha Kingfish, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

It will be Thirsty Thursday with Bud Light and 101 WIXX.

There will be half-price taps through the end of the fifth inning.
