Gianna Kornaus is a 2020 graduate of Pulaski High School.

She participated in track and field and enjoys pop music.

Kornaus said the greatest piece of advice she has received is to appreciate everything you have and enjoy each day.

Talk about how difficult the relay events were.

“It’s important your relay team has a special bond on and off the track and good chemistry to trust each person with the baton. Passing the baton determines the whole race itself. With the correct amount of steps and timing, handoffs have to be almost perfect.”

Talk about how special your family is and what they have meant to your success.

“My family has supported me throughout everything in my life. I’m grateful to have such an amazing support system to guide me through my right and wrongs. They have taught me the importance of having morals. I feel without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

What’s your favorite memory from the 2019 season?

“Our 800-meter relay team made the podium at state. It was also the first year I qualified for state individually.”

Talk about your mindset going into an invite.

“I listen to music and try to block out the distractions to stay focused before each race.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?

“Singer Alicia Keys because she promotes being natural to yourself.”

What’s your favorite phone app?

“Instagram.”

What’s the daily routine in the life of Gianna Kornaus?

“Get up, get ready for school, eat breakfast, go to school, workout, go home and do homework.”

Favorite picture in your room?

“One with my mom when I was little.”

What’s one thing other teammates or coaches didn’t know about you?

“I like to put others first before myself.”

What are your college aspirations?

“I want to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and become a speech pathologist.”

Chicago or New York City for vacation?

“New York City.”

If you could have one addition/renovation to Pulaski, what would it be?

“An auxiliary gym for extra workout space.”

What are your hobbies?

“Hanging out with friends, relaxing and being outdoors.”

What one word describes you?

“Humble.”

If you could listen to any song before a meet, what would it be?

“’One Step at a Time’ by Jordin Sparks.”

Fruits or vegetables?

“Fruit.”

Talk about a volunteer moment that made you smile.

“I volunteered at the ‘Zoo Boo’ handing out candy to kids, and they were so excited to pick out the candy they wanted.”

Driving or flying to a vacation destination?

“I would rather drive because I enjoy going through different states and looking at different scenery.”

Who’s your favorite track and field star?

“Dezerea Bryant because she inspires me to work hard and keep striving to get better.”

What are three things you’re going to miss about Pulaski?

“The memories, friendships and the sport of track and field.”
