DE PERE – Jordan Meulemans, a sophomore at De Pere High School, broke her finger in a game versus Sheboygan South Feb. 7 and will miss the remainder of the season.

Meulemans, who has Division I scholarship offers from Marquette, Creighton, Illinois State, UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee, finished the South game with a team-high 26 points, including shooting 6-of-7 from the three-point line.

“It’s tough to have to sit and watch and not play with the team, but I have to let it heal,” said Meulemans, who averaged 17.1 points per game.

Meulemans said she and a player from South were both going for a ball, and her finger got grabbed and twisted sideways.

The Redbirds are currently 10-11 overall and 7-10 in the Fox River Classic Conference.

“Jordan was playing her best basketball of the season,” said De Pere head coach Jeremy Boileau. “Unfortunately, she has not played since that game and will not be able to finish the year because of her injury.”

The Redbirds end the regular season tonight, Feb. 20, by hosting Ashwaubenon.

De Pere received the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 5 Stevens Point Friday, Feb. 28, for a WIAA Division 1 regional game.

The state tournament is March 12-14 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
