Bay Port athletes sign National Letters of Intent

SUAMICO – Eight Bay Port High School seniors were recognized for signing their National Letters of Intent Nov. 13 to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

All the athletes will attend Division I or II colleges.

Soccer player Alaina Abel will be attending Division I Loyola University Chicago.

Abel was a member of the 2018 state championship soccer and 2019 state championship basketball teams.

Emma Nagel, also a soccer player, will be attending Division I Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nagel was the Gatorade state player of the year in 2019.

Nagel is also a two-time state champion in soccer and basketball.

Swimmer Emma Lasecki will be attending Division I UW-Madison.

Lasecki has the top-seeded time in the upcoming state meet in the 200-yard individual medley.

Swimmer Griffin Hawley will attend Division I UW-Milwaukee.

Hawley was a state qualifier in the 50 and 100 freestyle last year.

Baseball player Jake Berg has committed to Division I Jacksonville University.

Berg was a member of the Fox River Classic Conference championship team last spring and is currently playing football for the Pirates.

Baseball player Call Verlanic will be attending Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.

Verlanic was also a member of the FRCC championship squad and is on the football team.

Maddy Ehlke will be playing Division I softball at the University of Minnesota.

Ehlke was the 2019 FRCC player of the year after hitting .607 in conference play with four home runs and 15 extra-base hits.

Mady Draak will attend Division II Michigan Tech University in Houghton to play basketball.

Draak was a member of the state championship basketball team earlier this spring.
