Ashwaubenon wins D2 sectional; Bay Port finishes second in D1

BROWN COUNTY – The Ashwaubenon girls’ swimming and diving teams won the WIAA Division 2 Plymouth Sectional Nov. 9.

The Jaguars tallied 364 points to beat Kohler by 48 points.

The state meet will take place Nov. 15-16 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Natatorium.

Overall individual event winners for Ashwaubenon included Bry Belille in the 50-yard freestyle (23.55) and 100 freestyle (51.52), Hallory Domnick in the 100 butterfly (57.98) and 500 freestyle (5:08.51) and Jocelyn McNicoll in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.88).

Belille has the top-seeded time in both of her events going into the state meet.

Domnick has the top-seeded time in the 500 freestyle.

The 200 medley relay team (Belille, McNicoll, Domnick, Evelyn Geurts) won in 1:49.35, as did the 400 freestyle relay team (Domnick, Sydney Popp, Geurts, Belille) in 3:37.86 to qualify.

Bay Port results: The Pirates finished second behind Appleton North at the Division 1 Neenah Sectional Nov. 9.

The Lightning were 12 points better than Bay Port, which finished with 322 points.

Emma Lasecki, the Fox River Classic Conference swimmer of the year, won the 200 IM (2:02.17) and 100 butterfly (55.17) to automatically qualify.

Lasecki’s times in each event were pool and sectional records.

Based on times, the 200 medley relay team (Lasecki, Sydney Aird, Lacy Geurts, Ellasen Peot – 1:48.80), Adie Tooley (200 IM – 2:11.33), Aird (100 breaststroke – 1:06.31) and the 400 freestyle relay team (Tooley, Geurts, Emily Calaway, Lasecki – 3:36.22) also qualified.

Other state qualifiers: Green Bay United’s Brigitta Neverman won the 100 backstroke in 55.95 to also qualify.
