New fees approved to rent shelters in Suamico

SUAMICO – Effective Nov. 1, a new set of fees for reserving the Village of Suamico’s shelters will be in place.

The village board agreed Monday, Oct. 21, to a revised fee schedule requested by Recreation Director Leah Hackmaster, who said the village’s park shelter reservation fees and forms have not been updated since 2012.

Hackmaster said research on other nearby villages of a similar size was done to guide the decisions on the price range and what Suamico offers to reserve.

The daily fees for reserving the Idlewild and Sunset Beach open-air shelters will be as follows:

• Monday-Thursday, government agencies, residents and special interest groups, $20.

• Friday-Sunday, government agencies, residents and special interest groups, $40.

• Monday-Thursday, non-residents, $40.

• Friday-Sunday, non-residents, $70.

It was noted during the board meeting the open-air shelters would be available without a fee if no one reserved them on a given day, but those making a reservation and paying a fee would have priority.

The updated fees to rent the indoor shelters at Idlewild and Calavera Park are as follows:

• Monday-Thursday, government agencies, residents and special interest groups, $75.

• Friday-Sunday, government agencies, residents and special interest groups, $100.

• Monday-Thursday, non-residents, $125.

• Friday-Sunday, non-residents, $150.

Board members requested Hackmaster use a spreadsheet to record the revenues and expenditures related to renting/reserving the shelters over the next year to determine whether there should be subsequent changes made in having those shelters available for use.

Assessor contract

The board also approved an assessor services contract for an additional five years with Mike Denor of Fair Market Assessments.

The village’s existing five-year contract was set to expire June 30, 2020, with an annual cost of $34,400 for 2019-20.
The new agreement will cost $35,280 for 2020-21, $36,240 for 2021-22, $37,200 for 2022-23, $38,160 for 2023-24 and $39,120 for 2024-25.
