GREEN BAY – The Notre Dame Academy volleyball team made quick work of Green Bay Southwest Oct. 1 in a 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 victory in Fox River Classic Conference play.

“Today was awesome as far as our consistency goes,” said Tritons head coach Ben Alexander-Wolf. “From the opening set all the way through, they were consistent. This week, our focus in practice was to control the things we can control and the things on our side of the net. We took what they were giving us and played our brand of volleyball. I was really proud.”

Notre Dame got off to a nice start with a 4-0 lead in the opener thanks to the serve of Cadence Maxfield.

Southwest regrouped following a timeout down 10-3 to claw its way back into set one, closing the game to 11-9.

The Tritons, and the right arm of Ellie Rose, shut the door with a flurry of plays to take a nine-point victory in the first set.

The Southwest hitters came alive in the second set and quickly turned the tempo around.

Rachael Bohlman provided one of the Trojans’ first big kills of the night early in the second, sending a shot past the Notre Dame frontline for a 2-1 lead.

Olivia Daane also came up big for Southwest, notching blocks on two straight points and sending a blistering kill shot crosscourt.

Notre Dame was able to regroup and pull away later in the set on several Trojans errors.

“We were definitely in it,” said Southwest head coach Andrew Heimerman. “We only lost by five [in set two], but we had 14 hitting errors. We were trying to be way too aggressive when we didn’t have opportunities. Notre Dame is very good, but I thought we had a chance in the second. They made some good plays, and we shot ourselves in the foot.”

The hard, line-drive style serve of Maxfield took center stage to begin the third set, as the Tritons jumped out to a 13-0 lead.

Notre Dame’s Brooklyn Onell was particularly strong at the net in set three.

On defense, she picked up multiple blocks, and on offense, she put the match away with a kill.

The Tritons improved to 4-0 in the FRCC, while the Trojans fell to 1-3.
