Tell me about your family.

“I have an older sister named Courtney who is in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, and my brother Nathan lives in Michigan near Grand Rapids. My mom is from Connecticut and my dad from Michigan. They both went to the Coast Guard Academy and met there.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“My brother played hockey, Courtney did volleyball, my dad played football in college and my mom was on the crew [rowing] team in college.”

What’s it been like playing three sports all these years?

“It was time-consuming, but it taught me good time-management skills. Hockey is my number one sport, so I did a before and after team in the fall and spring. It was pretty much non-stop.”

What is something about you most people wouldn’t know?

“I was born in Marinette, and my mom drove me every day to Notre Dame for my freshman year and half of my sophomore year so I could play for the Ice Bears. I also wish I could have done the musicals at school if sports wouldn’t have been so time-consuming.”

That is some dedication by you and your mom.

“Yes. She sometimes subbed at the school during the day, but otherwise, she’d stay down here for the day and then bring me home, or she would drive back and come back down.”

What’s on your music playlist?

“It’s all over the place but mostly pop. I also like the musical ‘Hamilton.’”

What three words best describe you?

“Compassionate, funny, original.”

Besides Wisconsin, what would be your favorite state?

“Either Connecticut because it’s where my mom is from or Oregon because it’s very nature-oriented.”

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me …

“Studying for class or doing homework.”

What is your dream job be?

“I wish I could work for National Geographic and write articles on the places I travel to for them.”

What is your least favorite household chore?

“Doing the dishes because I don’t like touching plates with other people’s food.”

What will you miss about Notre Dame?

“I will miss the hominess of it and the passion that the teachers have for their jobs.”

How will Abigail Comar be remembered at Notre Dame?

“As a well-rounded person and being the hockey girl.”

Tent or camper?

“Camper.”

Chocolate or vanilla?

“Chocolate.”

Read the book or watch the movie?
