Soquet, Chandik Kundinger advance in De Pere District 1

By Press Times Staff

DE PERE – The two candidates advancing to the April 2 general election for a city council seat in District 1 were only a vote apart in the Tuesday, Feb. 19, primary.

Unofficial election results show Randy Soquet, an educator, edged out Amy Chandik Kundinger, director of business engagement at St. Norbert College, 133-132.

The other primary candidate, Emilio Montero, a student, received 45 votes and was eliminated from the race.

The spring general election winner between Soquet and Chandik Kundinger will replace Larry Lueck, who was first elected to the city council in April 2011 and is not seeking another two-year term.
