Evan Frisque was a standout linebacker on the 13-1 state runner-up West De Pere football team this past fall, where he led the team with over 80 tackles, 18 of which were for losses.
Not to be outdone on the football field, Frisque is currently 23-5 this season in the 160-pound weight class and recently qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state wrestling tournament in Madison.
As a junior, Frisque finished with a 49-8 record, winning four matches at state while gathering a fourth-place podium spot.
What is it like to be a leader on the football and wrestling teams at West De Pere High School? “It feels great! I like having the responsibility of setting a good example for my teammates and the kids.”
What is your most embarrassing moment ever in wrestling? “In elementary school, I kneed myself in the face and bled all over the mat.”
Are you an a.m. or p.m. person? “P.m.”
What has been your most memorable moment in your lifetime as a football player? “Beating Menasha in football for the first time to win the conference title.”
If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? “Kyle Dake.”
Cats or dogs? “Dogs.”
Do you have a nickname or something a teammate calls you during a wrestling match? “My coaches used to call me cough drop because I ate a whole bag of halls at sectionals because of a sore throat.”
What is one thing that other teammates or coaches don’t know about you? “My biggest pet peeve is slow drivers – and my mom is the slowest driver I know.”
Dinner or Supper? “Supper.”
What are your college aspirations? “Wrestle in college and go for an engineering degree.”
What are your hobbies? “Hunting, fishing, skiing and hanging with friends.”
On Saturday mornings when I don’t have a game, I can be doing…..? “Playing black ops 4 on ps4.”
What is your favorite event ever attended? “Whenever the Packers played the Bears and won.
What is your favorite type of music? “Rock.”
What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “Watch YouTube and go on Instagram.”
What three words describe you? “Hardworking, dedicated, easy going.”
