St. Norbert hockey wins playoff series

ASHWAUBENON – The St. Norbert College hockey team won a 9-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal game against Finlandia University Feb. 16 to advance in the Harris Cup Playoffs.

The win came after a 2-1 victory the night before over the Lions.

The Green Knights (20-4-3) will host Marian in the semifinals Feb. 23 in a 7:00 game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

Peyton Frantti recorded a hat trick for St. Norbert, while Riley Christensen, Kurt Black, Clay Van Diest, Peter Bates, Chase Mickelson and Timmy Nicksic also added goals.

The Knights outshot Finlandia (8-17-2) by a 57-12 margin.

The Lions had 18 penalties for 69 minutes, which led to St. Norbert scoring seven of its goals on the power play.
