Bay Port hockey comes from behind to defeat De Pere

Ashwaubenon – The Bay Port hockey team fell behind 2-0 after one period to De Pere but came back to post a 6-3 Fox River Classic Conference victory Dec. 15 at the Cornerstone Community Center.

Bay Port’s Aaron Ribar recorded a natural hat trick in the second period to knot the score at three entering the final period.

The Pirates (5-3 overall) would get goals from Jake Boxer, Jay Ribar and Caleb Johnson in the third period to end the scoring.

De Pere’s Brett Pansier, Dylan Shulander and Mason Paul all scored goals.

Aaron Ribar added an assist for a four-point night, while Boxer, Carl Cano, Jack Chilson, Jay Ribar, Trevor Jenquin and Tyler Brady each had helpers.

Paul, Gabe Andrews, Murphy Eggers and Grant Tritabaugh had assists for the Voyageurs (3-3-1).

Riley Baye started in net for the Pirates but was replaced by Marcus Niemi in the second period. Niemi recorded 12 saves overall.

De Pere goalie Brody Van Den Heuvel steered aside 31 shots on goal.

Bay Port outshot De Pere 43-23 on the afternoon.

Both teams had success on the power play, with the Pirates going 3-for-4 and the Voyageurs 2-for-3.
