ASHWAUBENON – Three food truck rallies are being proposed for next summer in Ashwaubomay Park.

The village’s Public Works and Protection Committee agreed Tuesday, Dec. 4, to forward the matter to the village board for final approval Dec. 18.

Rex Mehlberg, village parks, recreation and forestry director, informed the committee the food truck rallies, which are being planned for the evenings of June 13, July 11 and Aug. 1 and would be put on by the parks and recreation department, would expand the type of event programming offered at Ashwaubomay Park where the annual Ashwaubenon Blast is held.

“We thought this might be a nice addition to our programming basket, basically of offering some things to the community,” he said.

Mehlberg said the evenings of the food truck rallies would also involve either a movie night or a special event at the lake.

“There’d also be a bounce house and some family games that we’d be setting up in the middle concourse area,” he said.

Mehlberg said there would also be a beverage area on site that would be able to sell beer to complement the food trucks, which would not be involved those beverage sales.

Trustee Ken Bukowski, who chairs the committee, said the village does a good job with holding Wednesday concerts in the summertime, but the food truck rallies being proposed would provide something additional.

The idea of holding food truck rallies next summer at Ashwaubomay Park previously received the support of the village’s Parks and Recreation Board.
