Everard was recently named the Bay Conference volleyball player of the year.

Everard would love to be Beyonce for the day, stating that she is a powerful woman figure.

What was it like to be a leader on the volleyball team at West De Pere High School? “Being a leader made me feel like I was helping the younger girls know how to pick each other up and make smart plays. Also, to learn where they are on the court and to pick up all the rotations.”

What was your most embarrassing moment ever in volleyball? “Once in practice, I started dancing like Beyonce, and my coach saw and said, ‘Emilie, you’re not Beyonce.’”

How many years were you involved in volleyball? “I’ve been involved in volleyball for nine years, going all the way back to grade school.”

What was your most memorable moment? “My most memorable moment was waking up at 2:00 a.m. before a tournament sophomore year and going to Denny’s to eat breakfast. We then got on the bus at 4:30-5:00 a.m. to leave for the tournament.”

What was the hardest part about performing in a volleyball competition? “The hardest part about performing was not focusing on all the mistakes made from passing, serving, hitting and digging.”

Do you have a nickname or something a teammate called you during a game? “Mostly Em because there are a few Emilie’s on the team.”

What is one thing that other teammates or coaches didn’t know about you? “One thing the coaches didn’t know is that when I got really focused during the game, I barely talked unless I was cheering or helping someone.”

Winning individual honors or a big team win? “Probably a big team win. The feeling after winning the match and celebrating with your team is huge. Also, getting to hang banners from the school or getting plaques is nice.”

What are your college aspirations? “I would like to go to college for something in the medical field because I really want to help other people.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate? “My dream job would be a blood analyst or a cytotechnologist because both would help figure out if there is anything rare or not right with somebody.”

What are your hobbies? “My hobbies are volleyball, camping, hiking, biking and rollerblading.”

What is your favorite type of music? “My favorite type of music is rap because it has a good beat and motivates me.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “My favorite thing to do on my phone is either use Snapchat to talk to my friends or go on Instagram to see what people do and post.”

What three words describe you? “Humble, thoughtful, hard-working.”

What is your favorite trip ever taken? “Going to Texas and living there for three months to get cancer treatment for my dad and having that nice weather every day with my family.”

Beach volleyball or indoor volleyball? “Indoor volleyball.”

Would you rather have rally scoring or win a point only on your serve like in the past? “Rally scoring because then everyone could feel like they helped get the point.”

Service ace, great block, dig or kill? “Kill, because it made you feel so proud of yourself and that your team could set you up with a great ball.”

Good speed around the court or height? “Good speed around the court because that helped when you needed to go save a ball or get a harder ball up.”
