Adalynn Johnson is a senior at De Pere High School who just completed her season with the girls’ golf team.

In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends, spend time with family and play card games with her grandma.

Johnson’s future plans include attending UW-Eau Claire to study something in the science field, with the hopes of becoming an orthopedic surgeon someday.

She is not sure if she will golf in college.

Tell me about your family.

“I have two younger sisters. Alaina is an eighth grader and Sophia is in the sixth grade. My mom is from Wausau and my dad has always been from around here.”

Do you come from a sports family?

“Alaina plays hockey all the time and a little golf. Sophia golfs a little bit, too, but isn’t into sports so much right now. My dad played football and still plays hockey. My mom played softball and ran cross country and track.”

How long have you been golfing?

“About six or seven years ago I started at The First Tee. My grandpa got me into it.”

Is there a sport you wish you had done?

“Probably basketball or hockey. I used to play hockey and could have continued.”

Does an embarrassing golf moment come to mind?

“At sectionals this year at Royal Scot Golf Club, we were on hole 13 and I carded a 13. Before that, I was having such a great round – I shot a 43 on the front nine. I was 8-over par on that one hole. It was bad – I like cried.”

How about a most memorable moment?

“I told our coach that I wanted to bring back pods, where we got groups of girls together led by seniors for team bonding events. We had a scavenger hunt, did yoga and made tie-dye shirts.”

What are your strengths as a golfer?

“Mostly my drives and my putting.”

Your weaknesses?

“My mental game and coming back from a bad hole or shot. It got better as the season went on. My chipping isn’t the greatest, either.”

What’s your favorite local course?

“Hands down, Hilly Haven. I golf there all the time.”

How about one of the nicest courses you’ve played?

“We played Blackwolf Run in Kohler. I also played ChampionsGate Golf Club in Florida and that was really nice, too.”

What’s your favorite club in the bag?

“It had to be the driver.”

How far can you drive it?

“With the roll, probably about 250 yards.”

Who is your favorite golfer?

“I always liked Arnold Palmer.”

What events do you participate in track?

“I run the 100-meter hurdles.”

Does a favorite family vacation come to mind?

“Every three years, my dad’s side of the family goes down to Florida for a week. It’s a lot of family time.”

Is there something about you the average person wouldn’t know?

“I just like plain vanilla ice cream and I don’t like putting a lot of stuff on it. It’s kind of boring and simple.”

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me …

“Sleeping in, maybe doing some homework and then I either chill at home or go hang out with my friends.”

How will Addy Johnson be remembered at De Pere?

“I hope for being energetic, outgoing and not being mean to anyone.”

Putting or chipping?

“Putting.”

Early bird or night owl?

“Night owl.”

Spring or fall?

“Fall.”

Chocolate or vanilla?
