ASHWAUBENON – The Ashwaubenon Jaguars swim team won all 11 events over Sheboygan South and defeated the Redwings by a whopping 110 points Thursday evening at the community pool. (Oct. 4)
“I had the girls swim some different events today,” said Jennifer Steffel, Ashwaubenon swim coach. “With just over 20 girls on the roster, it was nice to get more girls involved in the meet this evening.”
Freshman Jocelyn McNicoll and Sophomores Sydney Popp and Hallory Domnick each won two events and the Jaguars swept the three relays.
Seniors Claudia Dumoulin, Ashlee Vyskocil, and Paula Valverde (foreign exchange student from Spain) were honored during the meet for their accomplishments.
“Ashlee and Claudia have put in a lot of hard work in the pool these past few years,” said Steffel. “It’s always a mixed-emotion night when the senior group comes through. There are a limited number of upperclassmen so they have been even more important this year because of the tremendous youth we have on this year’s squad.”
The Jaguars improve to 2-4 in the FRCC conference and will finish up at Manitowoc.
“We’ve had some real close losses in the past couple of weeks,” Steffel said. “I feel like this young group is really going to deliver their best stuff down the stretch with the conference tournament and the WIAA Sectional that we host.”
