DE PERE- Josh Blount threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns as the West De Pere Phantoms whipped up on the Green Bay West Wildcats by a final of 63-0.

Additionally, Blount had 27 yards on the ground with one touchdown, and Aaron Wagner had three catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

The Phantoms ran only 37 plays for the game in scoring nine touchdowns.

The West De Pere stout defense held Green Bay West to a miraculous 86 negative total yards for the game, including nine sacks.

โ€œOur defense really crowded the line early and made plays right from the get go,โ€ said Jack Batten, West De Pere Head Coach.

After a quick three and out by the Wildcats, the Phantoms needed just two plays to score their first touchdown.

Blount found Wagner from 49 yards out to give West De Pere an early 7-0 lead.

After a second punt by the Wildcats, the Phantoms found themselves once again in Wildcats territory.

A quick slant, and three runs later (the latter a Blount 11-yard run), the Phantoms went up 14-0 just six minutes into the contest.

A third consecutive three and out, gave the Phantoms the ball at the Wildcats 31-yard line.

Just 43 seconds later, the Phantoms had taken a 21-0 lead after Wagner had scored his second touchdown of the evening.

โ€œWe wanted to get the passing game going more this evening,โ€ Batten said. โ€œI though Josh found his targets and we were able to get some yards after the catch. It was nice to see our receiving up with our rushing tonight.โ€

A scary moment occurred with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

A Wildcats player was injured near the Phantoms sideline on a punt return and the rescue squad was summoned.

Both coaches decided at that moment for the safety of the players that they would initiate a running clock the remainder of the game.

It did little to stop the Phantoms offense.

Just before the end of the first quarter, Cavil added a touchdown of 10 yards to give the home team a four-touchdown lead.

Later on, the Phantoms added a defensive touchdown after a punt was muffed inside the Wildcats five-yard line and Alex Spitzer recovered the ball for a West De Pere touchdown to give them a 42-0 lead with 9:12 still showing till the intermission.

Just before half, Phantoms running back David Vanderlogt galloped 40 yards to pay dirt to give West De Pere a convincing and insurmountable 49-0 margin at the half.

With the game out of hand, the Phantoms went to backup quarterback Marcus VanVreede and running back Colton Ott in half number two, and numerous second and third string personnel on both sides of the ball.

The Phantoms added two additional touchdowns in the third quarter where only eight offensive plays were ran.

With under three minutes left in the game and the Phantoms driving to hit the 70 point barrier, West De Pere took four kneel downs inside the 15 yard line in a very poignant moment of sportsmanship.

The Phantoms improve to 3-0 on the year and will travel to Luxemburg-Casco next Friday to take on the Spartans.

โ€œThey are a well-coached team,โ€ Batten said. โ€œThey can put up points quickly so we need to be prepared the entire game.โ€
