GREEN BAY — It was too little too late for the Green Bay Bullfrogs.

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (24-17 overall, 3-3 second half) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and hung on from there in a 7-5 victory over the Bullfrogs (13-29, 1-5) at Joannes Stadium July 10 in Northwoods League baseball action

With the loss, the ‘Frogs fell to 1-5 this season against the Dock Spiders and are 1-10 in their last 11 games.

Fond du Lac scored three times in the second inning and another in the third to jump out to its early lead.

The Bullfrogs got a single run in the fourth with an RBI groundout by Blake Nelson (Michigan) to cut the deficit to 4-1.

A run-scoring base hit from Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo (Navarro College) in the fifth trimmed the margin in half at 4-2.

The Dock Spiders added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh and a single tally in the eighth to make it 7-2.

Green Bay wouldn’t go down without a fight in the eighth.

Adrian Damla (UC Irvine) had an RBI single, while Nelson added a two-RBI hit a batter later to make it 7-5. With runners on first and second with one out, Fond du Lac turned a double play to end the inning.

Damla led the ‘Frogs offense with two hits at the plate, while Nelson had three RBI. Damla is now hitting at a .395 clip.

Bullfrogs starter Hugh Chapman (Georgia Tech) took the loss, falling to 2-3 on the season.

Kenny Carrillo (Golden West College), Ben Keizer (Michigan) and David Toth (Hillsdale College) also saw action on the mound. The four Green Bay pitchers combined for 11 walks in the game.

Green Bay won’t return home until Friday, July 13 when they take on Wisconsin Rapids in a 7:05 game.

The Bullfrogs hit the road beginning tonight for the opener of a two-game series against the Wisconsin Woodchucks in Wausau.
