Have you done any other sports besides basketball and football? โ€œNot since Iโ€™ve been in high school but I enjoy playing soccer on the side, just not competitively.โ€

How about a sport you wish you could have done? โ€œIf I could have started soccer when I was younger, I would have done that. Iโ€™m not very good at it but itโ€™s fun.โ€

Letโ€™s discuss football firstโ€ฆa disappointing end to the season, hey? โ€œBeing your senior year you want to make the most of it because you put so much time into it. We wanted a chance to play Kimberly and try to end their (winning) streak. We made it pretty far considering we didnโ€™t have much coming back this season.โ€

Did you watch the state championship game with Kimberly against Sun Prairie? โ€œI did.โ€

Was it hard to watch? โ€œI know some of the kids on Kimberly so Iโ€™m happy for them, but they will lose at some point. I kind of wanted to see how they handled what happened if they lost. To win 70 games in a row is really something.โ€

You missed a few games in football because of a badly sprained ankle…fully recovered from that? โ€œItโ€™s been a reoccurring injury that Iโ€™ve sprained my left ankle five or six times, mainly from basketball. Iโ€™m going through therapy and have a brace now. Right now itโ€™s good.โ€

Whatโ€™s it like playing basketball for Coach Rykal? โ€œItโ€™s fun. He does a good job of being outgoing, energetic and relating to us. He has a good support of coaches around him and I like the practice format. I like playing for him.โ€

This team is loaded with talentโ€ฆwhat can you do this season? โ€œOur first goal is to play to best we can and up to our ability. In terms of conference we want to win that. I think we have the tools and players that make us capable of going undefeated in conference again.โ€

Do you have a most memorable sports moment? โ€œI would say I like basketball a little bit more than football but when I had that pick-six in football against Manitowoc this past season that was pretty cool. I was pretty excited about that for quite a while.โ€

Do you come from a sports family? โ€œMy sister is (sophomore) Emma Nagel who plays soccer and basketball. Everyone knows how good she is. My dad was pretty small in high school and didnโ€™t hit a growth spurt until college. My mom went to Hilbert and played volleyball.โ€

Speaking of Emma, sheโ€™s setting herself up for a pretty good high school/college career! โ€œYes! I know she really likes soccer and basketball but I think her number one is soccer. She aspires to play college soccer.โ€

If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be? โ€œMichael Jordan just because Iโ€™m a huge North Carolina fan and we could talk basketball.โ€

Is there a teammate that should have his own reality TV show? โ€œIโ€™ll pick twoโ€ฆDanny King and Carson Schroeder. Those guys are like two peas in a pod and are hilarious. It could be the โ€˜Danny and Carson Show.โ€™โ€

Which teammate could survive on a deserted island? โ€œGarrett Mooren because heโ€™s a smart kid and has a lot of common sense.โ€

How about a teammate youโ€™d go with on a cross-country road trip? โ€œIf I couldnโ€™t take the entire team Iโ€™d pick Danny King or Isaac Krause.โ€

Tree house or tiny house? โ€œTree house.โ€
Laundry or vacuum? โ€œVacuuming 100 percent.โ€
Lie on the beach or ski down the slopes? โ€œLie on the beach.โ€
Cats or dogs? โ€œDogs.โ€
Read the book or watch the movie? โ€œWatch the movie.โ€

What three words best describe you? โ€œOutgoing, friendly, intelligent.โ€

Do you have any bad habits? โ€œI bite my nails instead of clipping them.โ€

How will Alec Nagel be remembered at Bay Port? โ€œJust being somebody that is nice to everyone, was pretty good at sports and was a smart kid โ€“ nothing too crazy.โ€

What will you miss most about Bay Port? โ€œIโ€™m going to miss the overall general environment โ€“ all my good friends, teachers and coaches. Those connections youโ€™ve made over your four years at high school.โ€

Head coach Nate Rykal’s comments: “Nagel is one of the most talkative and best offensive rebounders we on the team. He not only is a great player but he also is a great student. It remains to be seen who the best player in the family is, though!”
