The Mulva Cultural Center announced its lineup of exhibits for 2027 this week, inviting attendees to explore what it means to be human.
“Our 2027 lineup will invite visitors to explore a wide range of subjects and experiences,” said Marv Wall, executive director of the Mulva Cultural Center. “These exhibitions will encourage us to ask questions, consider new perspectives, learn more about the world around us and most importantly, to remain curious.”
“Every exhibition that we bring to Mulva Cultural Center is chosen intentionally,” said Director of Exhibits and Education Claudia Damiani. “We look for experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage conversation and that also offer opportunities for learning across generations. For our 2027 lineup, it centers around one idea — what it means to be human.”
The 2027 exhibits include FOOD: Science, Culture and Cuisine, Phenomena, Super Human: The Power of Technology and Real Bodies.
The Mulva Cultural Center will continue to offer its Main Hall exhibits free of charge, although reservations are required.

FOOD: Science, Culture and Cuisine — a multi-sensory exhibition that invites visitors to explore the world of food through sight, smell, taste, touch and sound — will be on display for members only Jan. 27-29 and open to the public Jan. 30-May 2.
“Gathering around the dinner table is a long-held and much-revered tradition across cultures and it’s a universal experience…” Damiani said. “This exhibition honors cultural traditions while also examining the science of food.”
The exhibit offers hands-on experiences and interactive displays to guide visitors through the phenomena that occur during food preparation while gaining a deeper appreciation for gastronomy as both an art and a science while also celebrating the universal joy of creating, tasting and sharing food and encouraging visitors to explore how food reflects culture, inspires creativity and brings people together across generations and communities.
Phenomena — an exploration of the science behind optical illusions, perception and the human brain — will be on display for members only May 26-28 and open to the public May 29-Sept. 6.
“This exhibit is all about wonder and optical illusions,” Damiani said. “Visitors will not only learn about the science behind how we perceive the world in these optical illusions, but you’ll actually experience them for yourselves through hands-on interactives that challenge perception and encourage experimentation.”
Featuring more than 20 interactive experiences, the exhibition invites visitors of all ages to discover how sight, sound, perspective and movement can deceive the senses.
Phenomena offers visitors the opportunity to navigate a mirror maze, experience the famous Ames Room, create colorful shadows, test their balance in the Vortex Illusion, manipulate virtual worlds and capture unforgettable photos in interactive illusion spaces while exploring scientific principles including light, electricity, sound, motion and visual perception.
Super Human: The Power of Technology — an exploration of how innovation is expanding the limits of human potential — will be on display for members only Sept. 29 - Oct. 1 and open to the public Oct. 2-Jan. 2.
“Super Human: The Power of Technology explores how technological advancements and medical breakthroughs have revolutionized the way we think of how we live, opening new possibilities and making the world a more inclusive place,” Damiani said.
Featuring a variety of hands-on and full-body experiences, visitors can step into an exoskeleton to experience enhanced strength, fly with a virtual jetpack, manipulate a robotic arm using gesture controls, test night vision technology and explore how camouflage and invisibility technologies work.
Along the way, interactive exhibits demonstrate how technological innovations are helping people overcome physical limitations and opening new possibilities for the future.
Real Bodies — an exhibition that invites visitors to develop a deeper understanding of the human body and the remarkable experiences that connect us all— will run alongside Super Human: The Power of Technology, on display for members only Sept. 29 - Oct. 1 and open to the public Oct. 2-Jan. 2.
“Real Bodies explores the human body in remarkable detail through real human specimens…” Damiani said. “These human specimens will reveal the complexity and beauty of human anatomy, but the most interesting part of this exhibition is that it pushes boundaries while seamlessly blending art, science and emotion.”
Through anatomical, cultural and emotional narratives, the exhibition reveals the complexity of the body while exploring what it means to live, love, heal and grow.
Organized into dramatic galleries, the exhibition blends science, art, and emotion to examine the interconnected systems that make us human — from breathing and circulation to movement, thought, medicine and the rhythm of the heart.
