GREEN BAY – In past years, KHROME, a local advertising agency, has provided Green Bay elementary schools with Martin Luther King Jr. posters.
Elevate 97 has continued the tradition this year, but on a larger scale.
“This year, they decided to go one step further and offer a large size mural of the poster to one of our elementary schools,” said Lori Blakeslee, director of communications, at the Monday, Jan. 20, school board meeting.
Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld said two elementary schools – Sullivan and Nicolet – applied for the opportunity.
After visiting both schools, Elevate 97 chose Sullivan for the mural.
“We are very grateful for their generosity and efforts to have such wonderful artwork, which embraces the spirit of Dr. King for our students, families and community members to enjoy long into the future,” Blakeslee said.
Donation toward Italian classes
Members of WisItalia and Club ItaloAmericano presented the school board with a donation of $3,020.
The donation was made in memory of former West High School principal Peter Feira and highlights the continued local and statewide support of the district’s Italian program.
“Each year, WisItalia makes a donation to the Green Bay Italian language program at Preble High School in the name of, and in tribute of my father Peter Feira, who was instrumental in getting the Italian language included into the Green Bay school curriculum,” said Nick Feira.
