GREEN BAY – In a recent study, SmartAsset found that high-income households are migrating to Green Bay.
Based on U.S. Census One-Year Community Survey numbers for 2023 and 2022, SmartAsset ranked 352 U.S. cities with a population of over 100,000 based on the percentage change in the proportion of households earning $200,000 or more annually over one year.
“Other data examined includes the new estimates of high-earning households, the number of high-income households added, and the local median income.
According to the study, Green Bay ranked among the places with the most high income households added,” a study release stated.
Study results showed that Green Bay ranked second to Palm Bay, Fla., which had a 146.7% growth in the proportion of high-income households.
Green Bay had a 119.35% change in the proportion of high-income households.
The number of high-income households added over one year was 1,676.
According to 2023 numbers the percentage of households earning $200,000 or more was up 6.8% and the number of high-income households was 3,093, with a median household income at $66,950.
In 2022, the percentage of households earning $200,000 or more was up 3.1% and the number of high-income households was 1,416, with a median household income of $55,177.
The top two cities losing the most high income households was Waterbury, Conn., down 63.16%, and Conroe, Texas, down 43.31%.
