DE PERE – Knight Theatre, St. Norbert College’s student-run theater group, will present Company Jan 30 - Feb 2.
Performances will be held at the Webb Theatre in the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on the St. Norbert College campus.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinee performances will be at 2 p.m.
From musical theatre’s most renowned composer, Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre and the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics and Best Book.
On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor, Robert, contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his friends – “those good and crazy people [his] married friends” – explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse.
The habitually single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions.
Company features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim’s best known songs.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online at ticketstar.evenue.net/events/SNCT.
St. Norbert College Knight Theatre is a student organization dedicated to staging a musical theatre production each year, with a month long rehearsal schedule that culminates in several public performances.
Every aspect of the show is coordinated and performed by St. Norbert students — from actors and pit musicians to designers, directors and producers.
Their students come from a variety of backgrounds and studies, from math to psychology to theatre.
This organization has been going strong for 30 years doing a wide range of musicals, from Godspell to Into the Woods to Carrie the Musical.
To make this show and future productions the best they can be, Knight Theatre started a crowdfunding campaign to support everything from costumes and set design to funding future shows and providing opportunities for more students to explore their passion for theatre.
If you feel so inclined to donate to their organization, donations can be made at uknight.snc.edu/campaigns/knight-theatre.
Company is directed by Tyler Blom and produced by Fiona Laffey. Simon Whiteley serves as pit director, while Ella Wienke serves as vocal director.
The technical director is Natalie Waurio and the choreographer is Mary Mitchell.
The stage manager is Isabella Puchalla.
