Name: Kevin Liu

Activity: Boys track and field

Kevin Liu has been running events for Ashwaubenon since he was in the ninth grade.

Last year as a junior, Liu and his three teammates qualified for the WIAA Boys 4 x 400 Relay race after finishing third at the Sectionals.

The quartet of Jaguars runners finished 20th overall in LaCrosse with a time of 3:26.64.

Liu will be featured in multiple race events this year for an outdoor track and field season that will hopefully open up this week.

What is it like to be a leader on the track and field team at Ashwaubenon High School? “I usually just do whatever I feel like I need to do to improve myself for the sake of my team and myself. To be considered a leader is an honor because it shows me that I'm doing things the right way.”

What is your most embarrassing moment ever in track and field? “My most embarrassing moment ever was when I fell during the very first indoor meet this season. I underestimated the strength of my left leg (the leg I injured in football) the whole offseason and I thought that the amount of PT that I did was enough. I found out later that it was definitely not 100 percent and I paid the price when it completely gave out under me. I got up and ran the rest of my leg in the relay but was disappointed with the finish.”

How many years have you been involved in track and field? “I've been involved in track and field since I was in the seventh grade.”

What is your most memorable moment? “My most memorable moment was when my 4x200m had to run the race all by ourselves and we managed to place fourth out of all the teams.”

What's the hardest part about performing in a track and field competition? “The hardest part for me is the last 100m of my leg in a 4x400m. By the final turn I am exhausted, and my legs are very tight. It's a struggle to move forward, but you push on to the end-goal.”

If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? “I would be myself, because I'm so great. But in all seriousness, I would still be myself because there's nobody else that I'd rather be.”

What are your college aspirations? “I plan on getting my degree as quickly as possible. I have no idea what I will actually end up doing athletics-wise in school.”

What would your dream job be once you graduate? “I want to be a game designer/artist. I thoroughly enjoy gaming and being able to make one would be awesome.”

What are your hobbies? “I enjoy pumping some good ole iron, gaming, drawing, and watching Netflix.”

What is your favorite type of music? “I like listening to classic rock.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “I play Candy Crush and rub it in my friend's face when I beat his high score.”

What three words describe you? “Sarcastic, competitive, narcissistic.”

What is your favorite trip ever taken? “My favorite trip was when I visited my family in China. It was an unreal trip.”
