What is it like to be a leader on the volleyball team at West De Pere High School? “It is an exciting opportunity. We have great coaches and a wonderful group of girls this year. It is awesome to be a part of the team. I think we really push each other to be our best.”
What is your most embarrassing moment ever in volleyball? “A couple of years ago, after a big team win, everyone was super excited. My good friend Emilie was also on the team. We thought it would be a good idea if I gave her a piggyback ride and while walking, I tripped and we both fell right in front of the whole team.”
How many years have you been involved in volleyball? “Six years”
What is your most memorable moment? “While getting ready for a big game versus Shawano, both of our teams ended up in the same hallway stretching out and doing a dynamic warm up while listening to music. The tensions were a little high between us all. However, the big thing at that time was the dancing trend Juju on that beat. I’m not even sure how it all ended up happening. One minute we were stretching out, all tense before the big game, and the next thing I know there was a Juju dance off between the teams. It was tons of fun, and I’m pretty sure it’s still floating around on twitter.”
What's the hardest part about performing in a volleyball competition? “One of the biggest things for me personally is staying mentally tough. It can be hard to get over a mistake that you make or ignore all the pressure while serving. It is super helpful to have an encouraging team that is able to pick you up when you’re down.”
If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be? “I would want to be Frank Sinatra, because I really enjoy his music and it would be very interesting to experience the early to mid- 1900’s.”
What is your sports routine before a big game starts? “I like to listen to my favorite songs before a big game to get myself ready.”
What is one thing that other teammates or coaches don't know about you? “They don’t know that I really enjoy spinning pottery and I have been doing it since I was 12.”
Winning individual honors or a big team win? “Probably a team win, because the feeling of winning that big match or beating a rival, as a team is amazing. It is an indescribable experience getting to pull off a huge win as a team, and the feeling between you and your teammates is great. It is also really fun to celebrate with your team and do the victory laps on the bus after an away game.”
What are your college aspirations? “I am going to pursue a degree in chemistry, with hopes of going on to medical school. I have always had an interest in neurology, but cardiology also seems like a very interesting field of study.”
What would your dream job be once you graduate? “Something in the medical field where I can help others. I would really like to be a pediatric neurologist.”
What are your hobbies? “I enjoy camping with my family. We like to do things outside together like playing tennis, hiking, taking pictures, swimming, canoeing, and going geocaching.”
What is your favorite event ever attended? “When I was younger my family and some good friends of ours went to a Timber Rattlers game and my favorite band at the time was playing afterwards. I still remember sitting on the grass listening to the concert with my family.”
What is your favorite type of music? “Oldies / ‘50s music.”
What is your favorite thing to do on your phone? “Snapchat friends or listen to music.”
What three words describe you? “Hardworking, caring, and funny.”
What is your favorite trip ever taken? “When my family and I went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We sat out on the beach and played games during the day and walked the boardwalk during the evening. We all ended up loving it so much that we went back the next year.”
