Schumacher recognized for years of service

Posted

ALLOUEZ – John Schumacher was recognized with a resolution by the Allouez Village Board at its June 3 meeting for his 28 years of service to the village and its public works department.

Schumacher began his career in Allouez as a street equipment operator, eventually stepping in as interim street foreman in 2022.

“John has been just an amazing gentleman for our community — a great leader and a great representation of what a public servant is,” said Allouez Village President Jim Rafter.

The resolution described Schumacher as a skilled operator and noted his commitment to serving the public works department and the village, even when that meant waking up in the middle of the night or sacrificing time on weekends to respond to sewer backups, plow and salt or address traffic emergencies.

“Throughout his years of dedicated service to the village, John maintained a good rapport with fellow co-workers, worked well with staff in other departments and went out of his way to lend a helping hand to village residents,” the resolution reads.

The resolution to recognize Schumacher for his nearly three decades of service was passed unanimously.
