DE PERE – A joint fire department exercise was held Monday, April 16, at the Paper Transport packing lot in De Pere.

The event was coordinated and led by Public Safety Training Center of Green Bay.

The center is an in-house training center for all aspects of public safety, where they teach basic training, such as CPR, to more advanced training and certifications.

Eric Johnson, a partner with the Public Safety Training Center, speaks during the training session.

The course of instruction started in the classroom and culminated Monday night for the fire departments of Lawrence, Wrightstown and Morrison; however, the Morrison department was called out for a fire call prior to the arriving.

Although not part of the formal training, the De Pere ladder firetruck participated in the exercise for further coordination and collaboration with the other departments.

Public Safety Training Center Partner Matt Miller said the event was an “apparatus/driver- operator” exercise focusing on the use of hydrants, dump tanks and engine pumping operations.

The collaborative exercise is a blend of theoretical knowledge and real-life application which underscores a proactive approach to public safety in the Green Bay area.
