Preble announces senior athletic awards

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Preble High School recently announced its 2018-19 senior athletic award winners.

Amanda Kugel and Jack Dessart were recognized as being WIAA Scholar Athletes.

Each nominee must have earned at least four varsity letters through athletic participation in WIAA sanctioned sports during the complete freshmen, sophomore and junior years and the fall and winter of their senior year.

Each nominee must also have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Josh Nicklaus was the recipient of the United States Marine Corps Award.

Winners must be an exemplary young citizen and role model for younger students and recognized as having best exhibited the personal traits of courage, poise, self-confidence and leadership.

The American Legion Award went to Madeline Morrissey and Bryan Boockmeier.

The recipient must be in good standing academically and excel athletically.

Dessart was also awarded the Bill Dessart Leadership Award.

The nominee must be a male athlete in good standing academically and display the characteristics of a good leader.

The Peter Hamel most valuable female athlete was Grace Taylor, while the John David most valuable male athlete was Nick Hummel.

This is the highest honor bestowed on an athlete at Preble.

The recipient is recognized by the athletic department for their achievement, sportsmanship, character and leadership.
