DE PERE – The West De Pere Phantoms (11-5 overall, 9-0 conf.) have increased their lead at the top of the Bay Conference standings with their 70-44 win against the Shawano Hawks (3-12 overall, 1-7 conf.) on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Senior Easton Deschane and sophomore Tref Rademaker led the Phantoms in points with 16 points each, while senior Bryce Borowicz followed close behind with 14 points scored in the game.
“We played good, we started out warm. We always talk about how the first five minutes are some of the most important minutes, so we came out right away, did our work and stopped them,” said Easton Deschane.
By 10 minutes into the first half, West De Pere took the lead and ran with a score of 22-10, keeping the lead the entire game.
Deschane explains that he looks forward to the rest of the conference games on the schedule for the Phantoms, as they keep pushing towards playoffs.
“We plan to maintain [our lead] by practicing hard every single day, continuing to do what we do every single day, and put in the work,” said Deschane
West De Pere Boy's Basketball Head Coach, Todd Deschane was very proud of his team, particularly with their defense which has continued to improve throughout the season.
“We’re going to keep building, keep learning and try to be better each day,” said Todd Deschane.
The Phantoms next competition will be home against Menasha on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. with the hopes of continuing their undefeated conference record.
