Packers continue to improve in all three phases against Cowboys

Posted

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers (4-2) secured a decisive 23-13 win at home against the Dallas Cowboys (2-4), proving their offense to be as lethal as their defense in recent weeks.

The Packers combined for 261 passing yards and 57 rushing yards for two touchdowns and three field goals.

The defense also had a career game holding their opponent to under 14 points for their third consecutive matchup and securing a turnover on an interception by Safety Evan Williams in the second quarter.

“We knew we were going to get some good opportunities and the ball was going to be in the air. They have a great offense and a great quarterback with some great receiver threats and we knew we were going to have the opportunities,” said Williams.

Zaire Franklin recorded 3 tackles and 1 quarterback hit against the Cowboys and said he felt their defense has been continually improving in recent weeks, especially since their brutal 35-14 loss against the Falcons in Week 3.

“I feel like all the guys were just in tune all week, focused on details, just focused on improving and getting better and we put together a good performance tonight,” said Franklin.

“It’s just a credit to who we can be. Obviously there’s still a lot of things to clean up. I feel like we’re a defense on the rise. I think every week we continue to get better and better, taking the ball away, stopping the run limiting explosive plays — those are recipes to begin great.”

Packers Safety Javon Bullard recorded 6 tackles and 3 pass breakups, including a 4th down stop in the fourth quarter.

“Any time you step on that grass it’s always a chance to showcase your talents to the world and show the work you’re putting in. I think we’ve got the hardest working DBs in the league and we come to practice every day and I think it’s starting to show,” said Bullard.

Week by week the Packers have said their goal is to find ways to improve in all three phases and have continued to prove their ability in recent weeks.

The Packers will travel to take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Sunday, Oct. 25.
